Training enables people to accomplish immediate success and life long satisfaction. Its goal is to improve not to impede; to assist, not arrest; to implement systems, not to impose changes. Sometimes training can help change things; sometimes it is used for imparting technical details, sometime to simply get the one great message across and at times to make aware of the new systems and procedures. It is encouraging people rather than only educating them, so that they will do work not only because they have been given great secrets of implementation but the faith in themselves to do it.
In the implementation of ISMS, numerous training tools can be utilized, such as multimedia Presentations, Workshops, Group Discussions & Q/A sessions to make the employees aware about the responsibilities and practices required to be performed under the structure of ISMS.
There are no set of rules of training, different modules can be used by different organizations depending upon the needs and the areas of operations.
Training can be divided into different phases for better understanding
Basics of ISMS:
All the employees of the organization must be given an orientation of the system, its vision, objectives, scope, importance and basics of the system. It is essential before the proper implementation of the system, as it will motivate the employees to carry out work in much better way and as per system’s requirement.
In this phase, presentations, definitions of main concepts, group discussions, Q/A sessions can be used as tools. Where as to judge the awareness of employees of the concepts a short test based on fill in the blanks or MCQ can be conducted.
Procedures of ISMS:
When the supporting literature is prepared by the organization or the consultant, describe about them to the staff members because they are the key role players in the implementation the any system. Give presentations on different procedures and quote the examples from the organization for better understanding and also to avoid those breaches.
To make this phase interactive, staff members can be asked for different examples within organization, cross question can be another tool to enchase the awareness level and also to judge the areas where improvement is needed.
Implementation of ISMS:
This is one of the crucial phases of the system. Implementation reflects the awareness of among the employees and how much they are able to incorporate the new standard in the routine working. However, initially employees will face difficulty but with regular inspections and guidance regarding better implementation will improve the implementation activities.
To motivate the employees and strengthen the working of the organization, token of appreciation in the form of souvenirs or certificates can be awarded to the staff members for their performance and support.
