v KKI executives attend training workshop at MAJU

Mohammad Ali Jinnah University is one of the fastest growing universities in Pakistan having its campuses in two major cities, Karachi and Islamabad, working under the esteemed leadership of Dr. Abdul Wahab, the former director of IBA and vice Chancellor, Karachi University.

In the recent times MAJU has been organizing training workshops and seminars for the organizations and corporate entities. In the same regard, it organized a one day workshop on “Change Management”, on 1st October’ 05

An invitation was sent to our Human Resource Department to attend this workshop. The invitation was entertained and our management nominated Mr. Javed Somroo –Manager Administration, Mr. Amir Ameen –Head of Finance and Accounts, Mr. Azeem Idrees -Manager Internal Audit, Ms. Nadia Ansari –Manager Home Remittance, Mr. Ahmed Hassan –System Administrator and Mr. Nabeel Iqbal –Manager Marketing to participate in the workshop. This workshop was arranged for the managers and the individuals from the concerned field; therefore, all our Managers participated in this workshop actively.

The workshop was conducted by Mr. Amir Feroz Shamsi – a permanent faculty member of MAJU and management consultant to many companies. Dr. Abdul Wahab was the key note speaker.

The workshop commenced with the recitation of Holy Quran. To start off, an introductory session of all the participants and their views on change was held by Mr. Shamsi. Then Dr. Wahab took over and he focused on the motives to adopt change. He said that change takes place all over the world in order to keep the ball of activities of life rolling. To bring the change, eagerness and desire - the desire should be a burning one, are the key factors. He threw light on the fact that to bring a change; organizations as well as individuals face the hazards, like that of life, job and honor. While talking about the advantages, the personal benefits of change according to Dr. Wahab are health and reputation which gives respect and money to an individual during and even after his life.

After lunch, the second half of the workshop began which was conducted by Mr. Amir Firoz Shamsi. He presented different models and theories of change management and said that higher management is the foremost responsible to implement a change in an organization. To clarify this concept, he gave the examples of various organizations and corporate entities. In order to keep the interest of the participants/ audience alive, he used audio and visual aids as well. He presented the short stories which aimed at enlightening the importance of change in our daily lives.

Through the workshop, it was learned that a change is important not only in the individual but in the organization as a whole as well. However for a better change, the participation and involvement of all concerned individuals is important because without it a change can not be made successful. Before brining the change, it is necessary to evaluate whether there is an actual need of brining a change or not. Without proper evaluation, changes usually fail. The workshop was concluded with the distribution of certificates by the key note speaker- Dr. Abdul Wahab.
